general appearance Her hair is long, brown and unruly. When she was 13, she decided that brushing hair was overrated and opted out of it, instead choosing to let it do what it wants. Currently she has a long sweeping fringe, while the rest of her hair falls in uncontrolable waves just past her chest. She feels that her hair resembles her reckless personality and makes her look less feminine, which is better really because she has never been very lady-like anyway. Marlene has petite and rather feminine eyes. They're a quite unique mix of hazel and chocolate brown with the odd fleck of gold in them.
At 5'8 and 125lbs, Marlene can be best described as average. She is neither skinny nor fat, but she likes to consider herself as rather healthy, and she is neither short nor tall, which doesn't really bother her either. She's completely content with being average. Marlene's face is quite round and delicate (but she'd describe it as podgy) and she's surprisingly tan to say she lives in England, but this is probably just because she likes to spend a lot of her time outside, mostly on her broom or playing Quidditch. She has an average size nose, which she thinks looks slightly disfigured, and small rosy lips which are way to "pouty" for her liking. Marlene doesn't feel that she had any really distinguishing features. The thing about her that draws the most attention though, would most probably be her hair.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

worst fear, Marlene's greatest fear is failure and the form her Boggart takes, changes depending on when Marlene actually sees it. For example, if she were to encounter one before a particularily big exam, it would be her failing it but before a big Quidditch game it would show her failing her team mates in some way.

overall personality, Marlene is a typical Gryffindor. She's brave and she's very reckless which sometimes aren't the best qualities because she can get into all sorts of trouble because of them. Luckily for her, she has the ability to think on her feet and not get stressed in bad situations, and this (for most of the time) is able to save her. One thing that Marlene loves to do, along with a lot of other Gryffindors, is party. If there's a party on, she'll be the life of it, getting drunk and dancing with everyone there. She's social and outgoing, which makes it easier for her to make friends, but it's also quite easy for her to make enemies because of her lack of tact and quick temper.
Unfortunately, like everyone else, Marlene has her flaws. She's impatient, rash, and never does what she's told to do. This annoys her professors to no end and it usually leads to her getting a detention from them. She also has a pretty quick temper (that she has inherited from her mother's side of the family) which is something else which can get her into lots of trouble with both professors and students.
Marlene is very lazy when it comes to school work. She hates reading textbooks and writing essays, so when she gets homework like that she prefers not to do it. And if on the off chance that she decides to try it, she usually doesn't put much effort into it. This is something else that leads to her getting detentions. Marlene isn't that fussed about low marks on essays because she excells in the practical parts of the lessons, which in her mind is the only important part.
Marlene is also very stubborn. Once she has an idea in her head, she'll stick to it and nothing anyone could say would be able to change her mind. Sometimes this be negative but this characteristic can sometimes be viewed positively because it makes her dependable and loyal. She's easy to rely upon because she's so stubborn that nothing would stop her from breaking any promise and this is why Marlene doesn't really view being stubborn as a flaw.
One of Marlene's biggest passions, is Quidditch. When she was younger her Dad and her older brother taught her how to play in the garden of their small house in the countryside. They didn't get to go there often, but whenever they did, Marlene would spend all her time practicing on her broom. One time the family held a party there and it was such a sunny day they all decided to play Quidditch. Being one of the youngest, Marlene ended up with the only position that was left, Beater. After some complaining she was still forced to play, much to her dismay, but after about 10 minutes of playing the game, she really started to get into it. She was surprisingly strong for her age and gender and and she shocked most of her family when she knocked out her uncle with the bludger. From that moment on, she knew that Beater was the position she wanted to play and she made it her mission to become Beater in the Quidditch team when she got to Hogwarts. After a lot of training and practice she acheived this dream.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

overall history, Marlene was born into a relatively well-off family who lived on the outskirts of London. She already had an older brother, Michael, who was 3 and two years later came another brother, Millicent. Most of her childhood passed without incident, but growing up in a household with mostly males was quite a challenge. Marlene was heavily influenced by her older brother Michael, and this could probably explain her rather boy-ish behaviour that she's never really grown out of (much to the disappointment of her mother). She often got into trouble for being disobedient, usually because of Michael's influence, but at this point in time, it wasn't over anything of great importance (eating sweets when her mother told her not to etc.).
It was during her early childhood that Michael and her father started to teach her to play Quidditch and this is when she discovered her passion for it. But it wasn't until she was eight until she discovered which position she loved the most.
Soon, it was time for Michael to go to Hogwarts and Marlene was left without her partner in crime. But Marlene, not being one to give up easily, wasn't deterred and turned to her younger brother, Millicent, to become to him what Michael was to her. Millicent wasn't as reckless or loud as Michael or Marlene. He was a lot more subdued and quiet and he rarely ever spoke his mind and although Millicent wasn't as good a company as Michael was, he was sufficient enough to keep Marlene occupied until she went to Hogwarts two years later.
Most of the McKinnon family were sorted into Gryffindor (with the odd exception) and when Marlene was sorted there when she first arrived at Hogwarts it didn't come as much of a surprise. She was the typical Gryffindor, brave, reckless, smart and loyal, and she fit in there straight away. And although Michael and Marlene weren't as close as they were when they were younger, they still kept in contact because they were in the same house.
Marlene soon settled into school life and enjoyed most of the aspects of school life. But most definitely not really the homework. Marlene was very lazy when it came to school work. She hated to read textbooks and write essays, so when she gots homework like that she prefered not to do it. And if on the off chance that she decided to try it, she usually didn't put much effort into it. This is something that led to her getting detentions and not getting along that well with the teachers. But Marlene wasn't that fussed about low marks on essays because she excelled in the practical parts of the lessons, which in her mind is the only important part. One class that she particularily enjoyed was Defence Against the Dark Arts, most likely because she was the best in this class. It didn't take her long to realise that it was something that she wanted to do as a job, and she's now working towards to becoming an Auror.
When Millicent came to Hogwarts, he was sorted into Ravenclaw. Although the McKinnon family were slightly surprised to have a Ravenclaw in the family, they weren't all that shocked. Millicent had always been quiet and studious, and most definitely a lot less loud and reckless than his older siblings. Although Marlene was a little upset that Millicent wasn't in the same house as her and Michael, she wasn't that put out because she knew that Millicent would fit in better in the Ravenclaw house.
It was in her third year that Marlene began to pursue her dream of becoming a Beater for a Quidditch team. She went to the tryouts for the Gryffindor Quidditch team, but didn't make the cut. She had the strength to be a Beater and the flying skills, but her aim wasn't as good as some of the older people that also tried out. Over the next year she worked on her aim (with some help from Michael) and after a lot of hard work she was up to the standard that the Quidditch team needed, and she finally acheived her dream.
Marlene she's nearing the end of her time at Hogwarts and she can't believe that her school days are almost over. Although she can't say that she's going to miss the work aspect, she's going to miss the rest of it (mostly the familliarity and the comradery of the Gryffindors). But Marlene isn't one to dwell on the past and she's ready for the next big adventure that life's going to throw at her.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

She smiled once again as he said he was glad. She was thankful that he cared about the state of the book, even if he didn't know how much it meant to her. Obviously she'd told him that it was important, but she wasn't sure that he really understood the impact it had on her. Either way it didn't matter, because she was still just glad that he actually cared.
She glanced down at the book as he talked about it. "Yes, I suppose it is rather odd-looking," she agreed and she brought it up closer to their faces so he could have a closer look. As he guessed it was a yearbook she nodded enthusiastically. "Yes it is," she informed him cheerfully. "It's only a recent one. 1975 to be exact."
It was odd to think that it had only been a couple of years ago that Alistair had been at Hogwarts with her...wondering through these very halls perhaps? It wouldn't surprise her, considering how much time he spent in the library...but it was still weird to think about it. She took a quick glance around the hallway before she returned her attention back to the boy in front of her.
She laughed lightly as he introduced himself. Now that he'd told her his name, she could remember hearing it briefly in passing. "It's very nice to meet you too, Finn," she replied. "Though I do wish I hadn't met you because I ran into you," she added a moment later, blushing slightly. That had not been her finest hour.
When he asked where she was headed she paused for a moment. Where had she been going? Ah yes, the Ravenclaw Girls' Dormitory. She shook her head at her own stupidity. She found it far too easy to forget what she was doing. Alistair used to call her Dizzy Dolly when they were younger and he often teased her about her inability to keep focused.
"Yes I am in Ravenclaw," she told him finally. "Wit beyond measure is a man's greatest treasure," she quoted with a small laugh. "I was just heading up to the Dormitories because I wanted to look through this yearbook. It tends to be rather quiet up there...and as hard as the librarian tries, the library always seems to be filled with incessant whispering. And you find that when you're in Ravenclaw, if you try to read a book others will be quiet. I suppose that's one of the perks of being in Ravenclaw." She laughed lightly again.
She glanced down at the yearbook once more and thought to herself. She wouldn't mind some company looking through the yearbook if she was with someone nice...the only reason she was heading up to the Ravenclaw tower anyway was because she wasn't sure what sort of reactions she'd get when looking through it. She might as well ask Finn to look through it with her...he seemed kind enough.
"Would you care to look through it with me?" she asked randomly. It was only then that she realised that she'd contradicted herself. "I know I just said that I got away from the library to escape the people," she said, backtracking slightly. "But I really would like to have some company." She smiled at him hopefully.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
