general appearance Sheelah's most distinctive facial feature are her blue eyes that create contrast with her long, dark, loosely curled hair. She often keeps her hair down but loves putting it in a braid or loose bun at the top of her head to keep her hair out of her face. She has long lashes that give her a slight 50's look matched with her large lips and small nose. She isn't too found of her mouth though, insisting they it makes her look like a duck. Her skin tone is an olive color which she gets from the Egyptian heritage on her mother's side. She is much taller than most girls with her long legs and torso. But the thinness of her body mixed with her height can sometimes make her seem awkwardly lanky and defines how uncomfortable she sometimes feels in her own skin. She has small hands with slender fingers but average to short arms.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

overall personality, Sheelah was born to be in Ravenclaw with her love of books and her intelligence that, like others in her house, goes for miles. Though not quite the best witch in her generation, she is definitely one of the top, doing exceptionally well in ancient runes and charms. Her weakness though, is in potions where she has been trying to scrape together as high of a grade as possible. For Sheelah, failing was never an option if there is still a chance to succeed. Failing meant giving up which was something she was too stubborn to do.
Sheelah can be quite the stubborn witch, whether it being that she won't give up or that she won't believe something to be true. She doesn't like being wrong and will often not admit she is even when she knows she is wrong. That may seem to conflict with her being gullible, but her gullibility stays within her friends. She will sometimes hang onto every word one of her friends may say to her. She puts a lot of trust in her friends, sometimes almost too much.
Putting a lot of trust in her friends is also a reason Sheelah can seem like quite an outgoing girl. She feels very comfortable around people she knows well. On the other hand around those she doesn't know quite so well, she can be a bit shy in they way of having trouble keeping conversation. Though that mostly depends on the effort exerted from the other person. Otherwise she really is not a very shy person.
One of Sheelah's greatest disliked is when she is not in control of her life. She likes knowing exactly where she going with it and though she doesn't mind the few surprises along the way she hates when her life goes completely of the path she set it on in her mind. She likes having some kind of plan.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

overall history,
Sheelah Finnigan was born in Ireland to Layla and Seamus Finnigan. Layla and Seamus had known each other during school at Hogwarts, but only got to know each other when they bumped into each other in Diagon Alley. Sheelah was working at Gringotts studying unusual items that were placed in vaults to make sure they weren't dark magic. While she was on a short break she ran into Seamus who seemed more than eager to finally get to know her better. Seamus had a lot of family living spread out in Ireland, where as Layla was an only child like her mother and grandmother and everyone in her ancestry. She was of Egyptian decent but with each daughter the Egyptian blood was more and more obscured as the women never seemed to marry another Egyptian. However, all had kept the custom to have only one child which was why Layla and Seamus never had another child after Sheelah.
Sheelah and her parents lived with Seamus' grandparents in a large cottage just outside of a small town of muggles. Her parents had enrolled her in the muggle school there to learn basic skills and to make friends who she was heart broken to leave when her mother was hired by the ministry. Her mother wanted to move to england so that she and Seamus could walk to one of the secret entrances to the ministry rather than constantly buy more floo powder.
After they moved, Sheelah spent a lot of time alone during the day. Her parents hadn't bothered enrolling her into school again because she would just be leaving it in two years time. Instead, they would put a protection spell on the house to ensure no one enters and no one left, and surrounded her with story books and text books. Both enticed her, reading stories of amazing wizards as well as studying about what she would be learning at Hogwarts. Sheelah developed a particular interest in studying ancient runes, much like her mother, and began getting beginner books to translating runes.
At eleven, Sheelah was accepted into Hogwarts but was soon disappointed to find she would have to wait to take Ancient Runes. However, getting sorted into Ravenclaw seemed to make up for it. Many seemed as eager as her to begin their learning. Charms soon easily became her favorite class, and potions her least. Luck seemed to be the only thing getting her through it, as often times she would completely mess up the order of ingredients. Sometimes what she was working on would explode or overflow and melt everything in it's path and sometimes it would somehow come out exactly as it should. But those were her lucky days. In her third year at Hogwarts, Sheelah finally got to take Ancient Runes and flew through the course. There were often times she would ask for extra work from the professor so that she could challenge herself.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

'No!'
Sheelah's fist slammed down onto the table in frustration and anger, and she soon received several questioning looks from students around her. Her face reddened but she didn't bother looking around at all the faces staring at her. She kept her eyes on the book in front of her and only glanced up at the professor who was silently chuckling to himself. He seemed to enjoy torturing her.
Potions was her weakest subject. She just didn't have the knack for it like she did in other classes. She wished it was as easy as Ancient Runes was for her but unlike in that where she go off and translate almost anything the professor put in front of her, she would look at the order of ingredients, stare at it for ten minutes, and still put all the ingredients in in the wrong order.
Now she was pondering whether just to give up or to continue making the potion despite the fact she had just messed up the order of ingredients. Apart of her wished she could just reach her hand right into the cauldron and pull the ingredients right out. But that wasn't an option. Sheelah had to continue on and she did so, bracing herself all the while praying that she would still have all her body parts attached by the time the class was over. She was not about to give up just yet. There was still a minuscule chance she would be able to achieve a decent grade.
She added the ingredient she was supposed to have before she completely screwed up, next and began stirring being careful to follow the instructions carefully this time. Her potion turned a dark purple, though the book said it should have been a violet color. As she reread all the ingredients wondering if she had messed up earlier as well, an idea struck her. As Sheelah looked around to make sure no one was still watching her, she chopped up the few remaining pieces of root and tossed them into her cauldron. Her heart began to beat faster as it potion bubbled but it soon settled and as she began to stir again it turned a light purple color, not quite violet but better than what it had been. The remaining minutes of class she worked feverishly to catch up to everyone around her.
"Times up!"
Her breathing slowed as Slughorn made his way around the room looking in everyone's cauldron and had completely stopped when he peered into hers. She waited anxiously for what seemed for ever until he finally gave a little nod and smiled as she sank into her seat in relief.
One of her friends leaned over, "Now how did you manage to do that?" But Sheelah just shrugged. "Luck?" It was the only thing keeping her in the class.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
