hair color, white blonde
eye color, a cold, silver grey
height, 5’7”
weight, 130 pounds, nearing beneath average for a male
general appearance
let it not be said that draco malfoy is a plain looking boy. he is the child of narcissia black and lucius malfoy, both of whom are not lacking in the looks department, and draco has inherited features from them both. his hair is white blonde, the mark of a malfoy and inherited from his father’s side of the family; as are his grey eyes (masked from emotions as his father taught him to). his facial bone structure also comes from his father; he has rather pointed features, softened at the edges with the bone structure inherited from his mother. his lips are rather plush, their colour making them stand out slightly from his otherwise pale face, and usually curved up at the corners into a smirk or a sneer. it’s rare for him to actually truely smile.
also inherited from his mother is, unfortunately, his rather slight appearance – draco is not the tallest boy for his age nor the heaviest, which he does find to be a rather irritating trait. neither could he in anyway be considered ‘beefy’ – he’s more lithe and slender than anything else, relying on the muscle of crabbe and goyle if physical intimidation is required. back in his own time, he was dwarfed by all members of the slytherin quidditch team, but it didn’t much matter; his build, with long limbs and taught body is that of a seeker. despite his size, draco holds himself taller than he appears, walking and moving with a grace that only born aristocrats appear to possess.
draco’s style is, quite simply, the best that money can buy. he would not be seen dead in hand-me-downs, or in fact anything less than the most up to date fashion. his clothing is always neat and worn only if it shows off his natural assets while making him look smart at the same time – it also can’t be said that draco malfoy has no sense of style. oddly though, he doesn’t much mind the school uniform, as long as every piece of clothing is tailor made to fit him. out of uniform though, he wouldn’t wear muggle clothes if someone paid him (probably because he never actually has), choosing instead wizarding styles of clothing.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
WHEN YOU REACH FOR ME
the personality
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
likes,
- the dark arts; draco has a (perhaps unhealthy) interest in the dark arts. the dark spells and magical rituals are something he has grown up around, and he is always curious into their workings and often fascinated by their results (unless, for example, the curse mentioned is one such as crucio)
- potions; like the dark arts, potions is also a topic which fascinates the malfoy heir; he marvels at the way one small change in a recipe, like stirring once in the wrong direction, can make something completely different.
- flying; of course he likes quidditch, he’s been flying since he was old enough to hold onto a broom, but more than the matches, draco loves the freedom of being up in the air. oddly, acrobatics in the air are something he enjoys the most.
- dragons; he loves them, everything to do with them. being named after them probably helped in some way, but since he was a child his favourite creature has been a dragon.
- money; the power that it can hold over someone, as well as the things it can buy, the sound it makes in his pocket...he loves it.
- pure blood society; the traditions and ancient artefacts as well as his own family’s history is something that fascinates him – in muggle terms, it’s probably genealogy.
- fashionable clothes; does this really need explaining? draco keeps up to date with fashion, and won’t allow his image to be tarnished by wearing anything other than the best. the amount of clothing he owns is more than...well, most gryffindor’s, for example.
- pretty things; sometimes he gets called a magpie by his friends in his house, because draco really can’t help it – pretty, shiny, beautiful things catch his attention and make him want them. and this includes both material items and people...but doesn’t distinguish between boys and girls. if a person is pretty, they’ll catch his eye.
- winning; draco loves the feeling of winning, or triumphing over someone else and making them feel weaker than himself. annoyingly, he’s never really been able to win over harry potter, which has become something of an obsession with him.
dislikes,
- muggleborns; of course, his father doesn’t like them and neither really does his mother, so it’s perfectly probable that he may have been brainwashed from a young age. but draco knows why he doesn’t like them as well – he doesn’t like the way they are moving into wizarding society and brushing the treasured pure blood traditions to one side. he especially hates granger, but for more personal reasons – mainly that she does better than him in classes.
- the weasley’s; the only ones he has actually felt anything other than seething hatred for just from the name of that family, are the twins. and that’s only because of the numerous pranks and jokes they played during their time in hogwarts. he can’t stand any of the rest.
- harry potter; on refusing his hand of friendship in first year, harry potter instantly became draco’s enemy (as no one else had really, ever, said no to him before), and that dislike has never been pushed down.
- getting messy; mud? ew. he likes to be pristine clean and look nice, and hates the idea of messing up his clothes or, merlin forbid, his hair.
- physical pain; whether feeling it himself, seeing it, or having to cause it, draco will go to any lengths to avoid having anything to do with it. the sight of blood doesn’t make him feel queasy...the sight of someone writhing in pain does.
- the ministry; he doesn’t like the way aurors used to come and raid his families house, taking away their artifacts, and he doesn’t like the labels they put on spells calling them ‘dark’. plus the rules are annoying.
- the dark mark; of course, his father was a death eater and followed his master loyally, and draco was about to do the same, but still...the dark mark is one ugly design. he hates the idea that it could have been placed on his pristine skin.
- werewolves; mainly fenrir greyback, but this dislike had translated across to all the other ‘monsters’. since the dark lords rise in his own time, he’s seen greyback too many times to be comfortable with (though only once would have been too much) and hates the look in his eyes. if anything, he’s scared to death of them.
- pureblood parties; he finds them rather dull and tedious, especially when they were full of boring old farts from the ministry, his father’s old friends. the clothes are nice, of course, but standing around for hours just talking? that is just boring.
- messy eaters; he can’t watch them. like seeing someone in pain, or being in pain himself, the sight makes him want to vomit.
strengths,
- capable at high level spells; draco is clever, in the same class as hermione granger when it comes to spell casting capability (they were often battling, though unknowingly, to be the top of the year), but his speciality spells are the dark arts – mainly mind altering spells, such as the imperious curse and obliviate. he finds both of those ridiculously easy, and has done from a young age. he also appears to be naturally gifted in the area of potions.
- emotionally in control; draco has been taught from a young age how to both mask and control his emotions, and how to portay other emotions which people want to see (in order to manipulate them). the only people who are actually able to make him respond with his true emotions and break through the mask are his family, people he’s afraid of (such as greyback and the dark lord), and harry potter.
- psychological warfare; he’s not the most physically strong of guys, or the best at duelling situations, but he is good at twisting the minds of his oponants. he can make them lose control of their emotions, using words and taunts to make them angry and lash out irresponsibly, or using his looks and charm to make it so they don’t want to attack him at all. this is, really, how he’s managed to be in control of slytherin students (other than his money and influence, of course).
weaknesses,
- cowardly; in the face of physical confrontations, draco will most definitely either hide behind someone else or run away. he’s terrified of pain, or even the prospect of being in pain, and he knows he would not last two seconds in a muggle fight if he couldn’t use his wits. he’s rather, well...weak, to his annoyance. hermione granger managed to pin him by the neck in a fit of anger in third year.
- dependant; he’s dependant on his friends for their muscle, on his father for his money and on his family’s influence to keep himself safe. breaking away from his spoilt lifestyle and having to do things for himself is a rather daunting prospect.
- anaemic; a result of his families in-breeding, but draco’s iron levels within his blood are a lot lower than average, which probably lends itself to his pale skin tone, but also to the fact that he gets tired rather easily and has a poor attention span most of the time.
worst fear, being bitten by a werewolf. turning into a monster is only added to the fear of the pain and of being disinherited.
boggart, the ‘attention’ he received from the dark lord in punishment for his father’s failure in the department of mysteries.
amortenia, melted chocolate, bonfires in autumn, duck feathers
sexuality, bi-curious (he likes pretty people, but his experience has only been with girls so far)
overall personality,
draco malfoy’s personality has been refined over the years, partly as a result of his tutoring in different areas, partly due to his parent’s beliefs, but also because of the spoilt manner in which he was raised. being an only child meant that he was the focus of both of his parents attentions as he grew up, and doted upon since he was born. he finds it hard, incredibly hard, to comprehend that he is not the center of the world for everyone, something which he had to come to terms with on his first train ride into hogwarts, when harry potter rejected his hand. to his friends in slytherin, as well as the younger years he pays no mind for, draco was the focus of most of the attention, and having that turned on its head by potter enraged him. usually draco can keep a very tight hold of his emotions, harry just happens to be the person he hates enough to manage to let them out.
he is a true slytherin at heart, of course. being cowardly doesn’t exactly mean anything in slytherin, but draco makes up for it by being both sly and conniving, as well as clever. he enjoys taunting others and making them feel as if they are beneath him, lording over others and being the center of attention. being doted on by people his own age more than makes up for missing the devotion his parents showed each time he went to school. he’s arrogant and can be incredibly irritating, but at the same time he is clever, both in lessons and in being able to twist other people to fit his needs.
but to most (anyone who he doesn’t think is deserving and who doesn’t meet his very high standards) draco is not the nicest of characters. prone to insulting people and bullying using his words and his wit, draco spouts the pureblood beliefs that his parents have brought him up with. he appears, on the outside, to be a complete supporter of the dark lord. which he is, really – the ideals are his ideals, after all. it’s just the fear the dark lord inspires in him which makes him wary of following his father’s footsteps. despite how he may act, draco is actually more than a little relieved that he’s in this time if it means getting away from having that mark branded on his arm.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
WHEN YOU BLESS THE DAY
the history
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
mother & family, his beloved mother is narcissa malfoy, nee black. his mother’s family aren’t ones he knows really well, considering more than a few were locked away in Azkaban when he was a child, but he does enjoy being doted on by them, especially his aunt bella (as her lessons are rather informing). this side of his family does have people he has never met, as they follow dumbledore – such as sirius black and nymphadora tonks.
father &family, the son of lucius malfoy, draco is the heir to the malfoy fortune (which is a blessing).
siblings, none.
overall history,
the only son of narcissa and lucius, and therefore the heir to the malfoy estate, draco lucius malfoy may as well have been born on a bed of galleons with a golden spoon in his mouth. he grew up wanting for nothing (except perhaps, as he grew older, company other than the house elves). spoilt by both his mother and his father, draco was raised in a way which not only made him learn to be dependant on others to provide what he wanted from a young age, but a way which also made him believe in the pure blood ideals above all else. malfoy manor was also a home full of the dark arts, which was yet another thing that draco naturally grew interested, and everything around him was magic. he had a sheltered upbringing, however, being spoilt by his doting parents but being kept from other people his own age until he was five years old. he was also disciplined rather severely from quite a young age, as most pure blooded children were, and taught early on that rebelling would just be bad for him. he had a party for his fifth birthday, which was the first time he met other children – sons and daughters of friends of his parents, carefully selected to be the best of pure blood.
the first time draco malfoy actually encountered anything non-magical was on his trip to diagon alley with his mother when he was nine. before that, all he’d heard about muggles was that they were animals, disgusting and primitive and utterly beneath him, and the same was to be said about blood traitors. however, one thing which still stands in his memory is when he and his mother passed by a park on the way back from a restaurant where they had eaten lunch, about to continue with their shopping. they passed a park, and draco saw a red headed family there having a picnic, sitting on the grass (something he had never been able to do) and laughing as they ate (something which was also frowned upon). he did not need to hear his father’s stories to hate the weasley family after that moment.
not long after his eleventh birthday he was taken into diagon alley again, this time with both his mother and his father, in order to buy equipment for hogwarts (which was his mother’s choice of school, his father had wanted to send him to durmstrang), and there he encountered harry potter for the first time (although he did not know who he was). in his own mind, the encounter went well, and he honestly did thing that he had made a friend for himself for the first time in his life. but that was thrown back in his face as soon as potter rejected his hand on the train, starting six years of mutual hatred between them both.
at hogwarts, he was immediately sorted into slytherin and quickly was established as being high up in the hierarchy there – due to his father’s influence and the circle of friends which had been built around him by his parents (and their friends) since he was five. together they, quite basically, put most of their efforts into controlling the rest of slytherin and putting the ‘golden trio’ down to where they belonged. he became slytherin seeker in second year through his father buying the team brooms, and then held onto the position using his own skill as a flier, managing to beat the other seekers...except potter. which was another reason to hate him all the more.
everything was going fine until the end of his fourth year. he came home from school slightly disappointed that potter was still alive, to hear the news that the dark lord had risen again. at the time he did not understand why his parents were so wary and warned him to make sure he kept up the pure blood beliefs, when he would have done already. he was slightly scared, though, when his mother almost cried when hugging him goodbye before he left for hogwarts at the end of that summer. but despite his slight wariness, he did enjoy fifth year. the reign of umbridge was entertaining, for him, and he enjoyed using it as much as he could to taunt the golden trio at every turn. of course, he regretted it not long after he actually triumphed over potter for the first time, catching him rebelling red handed, when he was hit in the face by a bat bogey hex. he hated ginny weasley after that moment as well.
his world was shaken to the core, however, when he received the news that his father had been sent to azkaban. returning home that summer (after yet another encounter with potter that he lost in), it was to meet his pale faced mother and a manor house devoid of his father’s precense and filled instead with fear. fear which was there for good reason, it turned out, as it wasn’t long before the dark lord decided to punish the failure of lucius malfoy through his son, calling draco and his mother before him and then placing the cruciatus on the teenager. not long after that, the dark lord moved into malfoy manor and informed draco that he would be marked to take his father’s place. the night before the ceremony was the night when he fell asleep only to wake up here. and draco had rather mixed feelings about that. he wants to go home, of course – he’s terrified that his mother will have been punished for him vanishing as he’s sure he must have done to get here, but at the same time he does feel a sense of relief that his skin will remain unblemished for just that much longer. being opportunistic means that, of course, draco malfoy is going to use this little time twist to his advantage if he can.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

The glass of the window was cool against his forehead. Lashings of water were striking it repeatedly from the otherwise, the wind throwing sheet after sheet of rain at his bedroom windows in what could have been translated as an angry manner. Draco couldn’t help but find some source of comfort in the repetitive sound, however – little pitter pats dancing off the window glass were a more comforting companion when he couldn’t sleep, compared to the doubts in his own head. Sometimes he enjoyed picturing that the rain was sending him little messages when it acted like this. Little whispers of times gone, perhaps? Or little hints that the times to come were going to be alright. But then again, sometimes the rain worked against him instead, keeping him away at night and then filtering into his nightmares instead of his dreams. He hoped that when he finally fell asleep tonight that it wouldn’t turn out to be one of those times.
How he wished there wasn’t a war. His family was being ripped apart from under him by a lord who’s ideals they had followed from the beginning, and there was nothing he could do to stop it. His body still ached hours after that curse had been lifted, and he wanted nothing more at this moment than to crawl into his bed and curl up in the warmth the house elves had conjured up long before. But the rain kept him glued to the window, the cool glass soothing his mind, in a way. Making him think of better times, as a child. He hadn’t been allowed outside in the rain back then either, though, of course, the details had been slightly different. That had been a house arrest imposed by his parents to stop him messing up his clothes, whereas this was his own doing. Keeping him inside and away from whatever was out there.
A creak behind him made him lift his head up off the glass though, and turn towards the gingerly being pushed open door in an almost wary manner. There was no reason for him to be wary – this was his home, after all. But it wasn’t just his home now, and that thought made him feel slightly sick inside. A twisting in his gut as he imagined who else was walking these halls tonight. No one would come to him room, of course. No one except...
“Mother,” he said softly, greeting the warm figure who’d entered his room. He wouldn’t deny that he loved his mother, he loved her more than anyone. Of course he looked up to his father and let him guide him, but it was his mother than he had always run to when a child. Run to for comfort. It was stupid to wish he could curl up beside her again as he had done as a newly walking baby. It wasn’t going to happen, of course not. That was the Malfoy way. The blond woman simply nodded in greeting, closing the door behind her before walking over to stand before the window beside him, her slight figure only just dwarfed by his. They didn’t touch, just stood there, the boy turning his attention back to watching the rain. But the room was warmer, somehow, and they both sank down to sit on the window seat at the same time. Watching and listening to the rain when in the company of someone you loved was comforting, and comfort was something that right now? Draco wished he had more of.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
