general appearance
Harper has a reasonably exotic look about her, as many may or may not notice. she doesn't look like her peers in her naturally tan skin and her smaller almond-shaped eyes. This would be because of the Bulgarian blood that runs through her veins, which she inherited from her father. She has long dark hair and chocolate brown eyes that always appear to have a mischievous glint to them. The girl possesses a lanky build, with her natural long legs (though she isn't all that tall). There's muscle beneath her skin, though most certainly not as much as others might have, because her muscles are lean. As far as her style goes, she normally leaves her hair down - though for particularly rigorous lessons or special events she tends to put her hair up. When not in school uniform, she settles for denim jeans and loose-fitting t-shirts and sometimes blouses. Her favorite accessories are her sapphire earrings that her mother bought for her, and she is almost never seen without them. She also likes to wear necklaces and rings, but all of them are of Muggle make.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

overall personality,
When most people think of Harper Marowski, they might think of a 5'2 Gryffindor with the attitude of a lioness and the mouth of an alligator. Or maybe they'll think of the girl who gets detentions at least twice a month due to her outspoken ways or her inability to complete various homework assignments. But they also might think of the girl who's gotten into various fights, usually over pride or the honor of one of her friends. Yet the people that know her well think of Harper Marowski as the friend who's always there when they need her, who can usually make anybody laugh, or the girl who loves her parties. In all honesty, any single one of these images captures Harper, or at least a portion of her. She isn't exactly a complicated person to grasp, but in no way is her character simple either.
In a way, the sixteen-year old really does have the attitude of a lioness and the mouth of an alligator. She's very easily irritated, and in many cases her bark is just as bad as her bite when provoked. Most of the time, this is the case when one of Harper's friends is involved, because more than anything, Harper acts as a champion to the people that she cares about. If they're in trouble, she's there to help. When they need someone to take care of a bully, Harper's their go-to girl. Because with Harp, it's, as the song by Tyrone Wells recited underneath her name states, "sink or swim". It's black and white - there are no shades of gray when it comes to honor and bravery. Either you do something or you don't. You succeed or you fail. And this is a girl who refuses to allow herself to fail her friends. The main reason for this, as a little bit of an insight to her character, she doesn't want to give any of her friends a reason to leave her. And if there is one thing that Harper is afraid of above all else, it's being left alone. Sure, one could say that, when it's only her involved, there's a little bit of pride thrown in, because nobody from Gryffindor really wants to be seen as a coward.
But, of course, while there are many people who would speak badly of her, there are those who would give you a different view on what Harper's like. Friends of hers would say she's probably one of the most irritatingly loving people on the planet, that she's always there for them when they need her, and that when it seems other people are deserting them, she's the rock that would keep them steady. Yes, she loves her parties. Anybody could tell you that. And she loves her butterbeer and her sweets and her music. She hates her homework. Her friends know those quirks, and in most cases they either find them endearing or they can deal with them. The adults that know her either think of her as disrespectful or a girl with promise. Once you earn Harper's respect, either by teaching her well or some other deed, she becomes a great deal more well-behaved, hardworking student (except for reading assignments, I should be careful to point out). And to add on a few more people on the list never to insult while Harper is around, her family. Harper absolutely loves her family, loves her mother, two brothers, and her baby sister. Her two younger siblings, Nicholai and Michelle, are her pride and joy. In all retrospect, as stated before, Harper's like a dog. She will ruthlessly defend those that she cares for, and once you have her respect, she's your companion for life.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

father &family, ivan marowski, pureblood family
siblings, ethan marowski {wizard, graduated/ravenclaw alumni, nineteen}, nicholai marowski {unknown magical blood, seven}, michelle marowski {unknown magical blood, two}
overall history,
Harper's backstory is much less complicated than some peoples', but at least there's something to tell. Well, Harper's parents are Matilda and Ivan Marowski, and they met nineteen years ago in a London pub when Matilda Weston, a waitress and a sometimes-performer at the pub, spilled a cup of water all over wizard Ivan Marowski's jacket. He had been out that night with one or two of his wizard friends, exploring the Muggle scene because he was feeling a bit rebellious against his pureblood family. (For some background information on the Marowskis: the Marowski clan is a long line of purebloods rooted in Bulgaria. A branch of the family moved to England during the first Great War, in an attempt to become a part of Voldemort's regime. None of the Marowskis were Death Eaters directly, though they were known for contributing to the cause. Essentially, any Marowskis that Harper would run into in the 70s would be her pureblood grandparents, and maybe even her father.) Upon meeting Matilda, it didn't escape Ivan's notice how pretty the young woman was, and just to tick off his parents he ended up dating her for a few months. But over those few months, Ivan's attitude towards Matilda began to change. He really did end up falling in love with the pretty Muggle girl, and they got married a year later, much to the rage of his family. Nine months later, Harper's elder brother, Ethan, was born. And, alas, three years after that, Harper herself was born.
Her mother took off almost a year from working in order to stay at home with her daughter when she was born, and she and Ivan moved from her parents' home into their own flat in downtown London, in order to give their new family a proper home. Together they gave their children the love and care that they needed, and they ended up raising a bold and courageous children. Even at a young age, Harper was extremely skilled at getting into things she shouldn't - climbing into pots and pans, escaping her crib, chewing on things that ought not to be chewed on, you can imagine. A troublemaker right from the very start. As she grew older, Harper began to calm down and, while she still caused some mischief around the house, managed to control herself most of the time.
But when Harper reached the age of seven, her mischief began to take a different turn. Witches and wizards, as many would know, often display their first signs of magic when they're feeling an extreme emotion. While some witches at Harper's age might display their potential because of anger or sadness, Harper expressed hers because she was extremely happy. Her mother had brought home a puppy one day that had been stranded out in the street, and Harper was so excited at the prospect of keeping it that she accidentally turned the dog purple and back again. Her father was extremely proud at this display, though he did have to explain to his wife what was going on with their daughter who could turn puppies purple. (Whereas Ethan, who'd shown his ability when he was five and Harper two, it had been while Matilda hadn't been home, so Ivan was easily able to keep Ethan's ability a secret.) Now, all there was left to do was wait until their baby girl was eleven, when she would receive her letter from Hogwarts. (Just as a side note, when Harp was nine, her baby brother Nicholai, commonly known as Nicky, was born.)
Sure enough, on her eleventh birthday, Harper received a letter of acceptance from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. By this time, her brother had already been in Hogwarts for three years, and he absolutely loved it there. Ethan, on the other hand, had been sorted into Ravenclaw at the Sorting Ceremony, and he promised Harp that, if she made it into Ravenclaw, he would introduce her to all of his friends and that he'd look out for her. He and her father took her to Diagon alley, where Ivan bought her Cam, her masked owl that she currently uses for sending post to her mother and father and (during the summer) her friends.
But Harper, all geared up to be sorted into Ravenclaw, was sorely disappointed when she finally did come to Hogwarts. Instead of being sorted into her brother's house, she was sorted into Gryffindor, house of the "brave and true". When she wrote the dreaded news to her father, she was rather shocked to discover that he wrote back that he was so proud of her, and that he was happier for her than he would have been if she'd been sorted into Ravenclaw. Reassured that she hadn't done something wrong, Harper began to take pride in her sorting, and very swiftly began to make friends (and enemies as well). Her outspoken nature often got her troubles in class, and she's served at least two detentions a month since.
And in this manner, Harper has survived five years of Hogwarts so far. But now she's been taken back in time for her sixth year, with nothing but her origins and her personality, and only time can tell what she'll do with them.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Where was the alcohol?
Avery wasn't even sure what she was trying to accomplish with this outfit, but all she knew was that it had looked so much longer on the rack. When a group of girls had gone dress shopping a few weekends for this shindig, Avery had been roped in and had hastily grabbed the first dress she saw in the first shop they'd visited. It was her size, so the daughter of Hermes had just naturally assumed that it would fit her perfectly fine. Of course, that had been before she'd put it on in her cabin. The dress was much shorter than she'd thought it was. Much shorter. As in, so much shorter she was sure that this was borderline acceptable. She felt comfortable wearing it, of course, but never had she shown so much leg before. Then again, this was her first time wearing a dress period.
There were already some campers dancing, and Avery couldn't deny that she was jealous. She'd never danced before either. Gods, this event had just been created to make her look like an idiot. She was used to raiding kitchens, blowing up cabins and personal belongings, setting peoples' clothes on fire, etc. This? the whole dancing, dressing up, and partying thing? This was something she wasn't used to. She'd only come because, well... honestly, she didn't want to admit it to herself. But deep down, Avery wanted to feel pretty. She was always that girl who had mud on her jeans, ash smudged on her face, her hair all tangled and messy. She wanted to show the camp she could be someone different. Not that she had a problem with being the tomboy. Hell, as a daughter of Hermes, that was kind of her job.
Gods, she hoped that someone was bringing the alcohol. There was always a way to sneak it under Chiron's nose. Since she was under 21, she had no access to buying it from an outside source, and she had absolutely no idea how to make homemade liquor. Drinking probably wasn't the best idea, but anything to make her forget that she'd ever even some to this stupid thing. She probably should have focused on how to blow up the snacks table, or hack into the sound system and put on some kind of obscene song. But alas, Avery considered herself off duty tonight... even though she didn't really know how long that promise would last.
She wasn't exactly miserable, per se, but Avery wasn't exactly pleased to be standing awkwardly in the corner with a ruffled red dress. She'd dolled herself up for the occasion, and now all she was doing was standing here. She'd never been the type to be all emo in the corner like some kids at this camp were, but it seemed that was exactly what she was doing. So she decided to do something about it.
Avery promptly headed over to the snacks table, flipping some of her combed, sunny blond hair over her shoulder so she wouldn't have to worry about getting it in the food. She popped a cheese cube into her mouth and glared at all the couples and campers out on the dance floor. Annoying, that's what they all were - showing off their skills dancing. The only thing Avery knew she could show them up in was pranking. And blast it, she'd given that up tonight. She was beginning to regret it now.
