Yamada Yu is quite petite but despite her small build, her legs are incredibly long. She is usually wearing very modern goth styled clothing and platform shoes. Her hair is always loose although with the occasion she braids it into a french braid and pins her hair up. Only eleven, Yamada's breast begun to grow in and growth spurts are becoming a frequent thing. She is always well kept and all her dresses and wardrobe is made by hand, without magic.

Yamada for the most part keeps to herself. She never initiates a conversation and always serves as the listener for her friends and family. Do to her straightforward but secretive personality many people have found it hard to get to know her. They find her a bit unstable and boring at first. For those who actually invest themselves into getting to know Yamada, they view her as kind and a calm outgoing person. Regardless of whether they are friend of foe, Yamada spends hours at a time by herself trying to keep the rage she feels inside of her from coming to a boil. This rage is usually triggered by a family scene or groups of people that are planning time with their family. Since Yamada never knew her family she feels alone and envious of what others have. Rather than try to connect with others she allows them to do whatever they want and talk to her whenever they need to.

She is a possessive person, not of materials but of her friends and family so it is hard to be alone when she see's one of her friends hanging out with someone else. It isn't jealousy it is pure envy at work. Yet because of all of this Yamada's attention to detail is spot on and her vibe comes off as inviting and sincere. It is because she is always neutral and never the person to yell or complain that people could approach her. Though she is still viewed as unstable and boring!

mother & family, Unknown, was adopted at a younger age after her parents left her for approximately 3 years to fend for herself. She was only 7 at the time. Her adoptive family is a large family, whom she has only known for the last year but cherishes them. Adoptive mother is American and is named Serenity.
father &family, Unknown, was adopted. Adoptive father is Japanese and is named Hiroshi.
siblings, She was an only child, however she has 2 sisters and a brother in her adopted family and all of them are younger than her so they have yet to be sorted.
overall history,
Yamada only remembers a little about her parents. Her biological mother had short sandy brown hair and she was really tall and was built like an athlete. Her biological father was average height and had the long waves of jet black hair that Yamada inherited and he was slim and really flexible. If she remembered correctly her father went to Durmstrang and her mother to Beauxbatons, but Yamada wasn't sure if that was something she created in her mind or facts. There wasn't much to her old family besides she was an only child. From what she could recall her parent never used magic but they would have had to at some point in time because they were wizards. She didn't remember much else other than sitting in the kitchen watching her mother plant more lavender's in a small pot to place near the window still. She was found in Japan in a small rural home and her mother made all her dresses from scratch. Yamada reflects back to this as a sign of warmth more than the true sign of poverty that faced the family. When Yamada was seven years old she ran home after coming from her muggle school only to find the house empty.

Thinking nothing at the time she simply waited for her parents and attempted to cook rice as her mother shown her to do with their pressure cooker. Hours turned to days and days to weeks. Yamada crawled in a ball and sobbed and wasn't sure what to do. She went to the police station and reported them missing but there was nothing else she could do. She stayed at the house until the landlord had to place it for closure and then she roamed the streets. 3 years later at the age of 10 she was picked up and adopted by the Yu family with no questions. She grew to love them and the sadness that ached her heart made things a little better for her especially since she had 3 younger siblings to help look after.

Her only brother, Yuki was only 8 years old and was quite a sacastic person himself and although they differed in 3 years, he treated Yamada with respect and honor. The two of them were inseperable. Yamada was somewhat close with the two twin sisters Mika and Mina but their bubbly and playful personality clashed with her much darker and serious one. They were both were 5 years old and tend to tease each other alot. Her adoptive parents lived in the motto "Speak softly and carry a big stick" so there were hardly any major conflicts at home. She loved her new family even if she spent hours thinking about her real mother and father when her adoptive parents came to her she always felt her guard go down.

Yamada sat on her rather large pink and black skull designed suitcase and awaited for the train to make its way into the station. She was an entire hour early because her parents insisted that she get to meet people before she arrived at Hogwarts. Despite their efforts their adoptive daughter never quite made friends with anyone outside the family and the lucky one to break down her barrier, Alice, had decided to accept an invitation to Beauxbatons and leave Yamada all to herself. She wasn't to sure if she wanted to work on making any more friends, Alice was all she needed...but even as Yamada muttered that to herself she knew it was only a lie. Alice was not a possession and in their time apart it wouldn't be surprising for either of them to come back as different people. Sighing to herself Yamada placed the book she had been reading down on her lap and leaned her weight onto her elbows. There was no point coming to the station early, both her family and she knew that her chance of speaking to someone was well...zero and that the only conversation she would be able to continue was one with herself and if someone just happen to approach her.

Yamada couldn't figure out what she was doing at the platform. She didn't feel the rush to really to come to school. She lived without magic practically her entire life, just as her birth parents showed her how to. It was really weird having a crash course in magic by her adoptive parents since she never even owned a wand until then. Her mother with the elegance of a swan made she to teach her the proper greetings and titles of the wizard world, not that it mattered because to Yamada people were people and respect was something always given and could be taken away. Her father bought her a comet 290 and demonstrated how to fly and the basic cleaning and healing spells she would need to know. All in all Yamada was grateful that they had taught her something before she left, if there was anything she did not like was being ignorant of something.

Yamada bit the top of her thumb, a sign that she was nervous and thought to herself all that had occurred to her in the last 24 hours. She was a wizard and was born to do something great with her magic, she just felt it. Thinking about it a bit more she realized that if she graduated from Hogwarts and became an auror or something that she would be able to track down her original parents. Yes, that seemed to be the real reason she was here sitting alone on the platform as everyone around her laughed with each other and reconnected with friends. She wish she wasn't so defensive or she would ask to join them. Standing up to stretch she looked around and caught the eye of several people at the station.

Okay. We have a fair few of problems here.

The first issue that comes to mind is the fact your character is eleven and the playby you are using is a woman who doesn't even close to that age. You might find that to be a bit nitpicky; but, our staff prefers to have some modicum of reality here. This isn't the main problem, however. Lots of things in your application conflict with things you've written yourself and the boundaries of our own world and even their world.

We're going to break this up in sections so I can organize my thoughts coherently for you. I'm not trying to be a bully. There are just some issues with our application that absolutely *need* to be worked through. Hopefully you can take this criticism and learn from it so you will have, in the future, an easier time developing a good character.

Appearances:

First off, you met the barest of bare minimums for describing the appearance for your character. I understand we have a picture of the celebrity to get an idea of what her image is; but, that doesn't mean we don't want some sort of image that we can make in our heads so we can better picture your character with her physical appearances and mannerisms. What you did give us was rather conflicting. Your character is eleven years old, so you have to think about what an eleven year old would look like. For a girl her age, 5'1" at 125 is not petite at all. For an 18 year old, that is petite (I weigh about 122 myself). For an eleven year old, this is quite big. Again, these are technicalities that are easily fixed. With this, you also gave us a description of her wardrobe, which you just described as goth. As you should understand, this is a boarding school. She would barely be able to wear these types of clothing. What you have is great enough for a description of what she looks like outside of class. However, how does she look when she's going to go to class? Moreover, what about her face and body structure? Does she wear makeup? Does she have any sort of body scars, moles, beauty marks, etc? There's just not enough detail.

Personality:

This area is where your major problems are. A lot of what you state about Yamada conflicts with other things you state about her. You describe her to be cynical, socially inept, shy, possessive, and with a fiery temper. Yet, at the same time, she's also outgoing, calm, and kind? In any sort of situation, this is a rather impossible thing for a person to be exhibiting. I understand your want your character to be likable; but, there are too many things that you state about her that just don't work with other things you state about her. How can Yamada be straightforward but secretive at the same time? How can she be shy and then outgoing? How is she can give a vibe of being sincere and inviting, but people would initially see her as being unstable and boring? It's just not possible. What's happening is the verge of a Mary sue, someone who can have all the problems that bring in drama, yet at the same time retain some modicum of civility to be considered to be the most amazing person ever. You may not see this; but, it comes off this way.

Also, you might want to consider the fact that she is Pureblood would mean that she's not exactly so adverse to magic as you have made her out to be. Even pureblood wizards who aren't mean jerks use magic on many occasions and don't see much wrong with it. It's just a way of life for them. This isn't a huge thing, though. Just something to consider.

History:

There are A LOT of issues here too.

First off, you state that Yamada was abandoned at 7 years old by her parents (who attended Durmstrang and Beauxbatons), wherein she took care of herself for three years in a rural village in Japan. Here's the problem:

1. Beauxbatons is French. Durmstrang is Slavic. This would mean that both of her parents are of Western Europeon and Slavic descent. It's fine that they live in Japan, although this is strange in of itself; but, it would be very unlikely that they would give their daughter a "Japanese" (I'll get to that later) name and then send her to a Western European school. If Yamada has lived in Japan all her life, then why would she be going to a British boarding school?
2. She was left for fend for herself for 3 years, as a child. This is impossible by many different means. A child of seven cannot fend for itself on their own. Considering the fact that there is a landlord present, social services would have been alerted within the very first WEEK of her abandonment. Even if this was not so, how or why a seven year old child would calmly take the disappearance of her parents without freaking out is beyond me. If I were seven, I'd be very scared and try to find the nearest adult so they could help me find my parents. The fact that the police would have ignored her is absolutely ridiculous. If the police were involved, they wouldn't have let her go back home. They would have taken her into foster care.
3. Your name isn't Japanese. I am almost fluent in Japanese, the "Yin Mi" part is Chinese. Yamada is a surname, which means it should be the last name. Even then, if she were seven and born to a slavic/french couple, the reason why she would have an Asian name is beyond me.

Beyond that the very minor details (like their motto being Theodore Roosevelt's "Speak softly but carry a big stick"; a saying that has absolutely nothing to do within the context you have applied it to) are probably not all the worth mentioning. To be honest, your application is a huge mess and, after careful discussion with our main admin, it cannot be accepted at this time.

What is needed is an entire revamp of the application. This means that, if you wish to be involved with us, you need to go back and carefully consider every single detail about your character and then rewrite the application again, fixing all the issues that I have pointed out here. I'm sorry in advanced if you don't wish to do that. Perhaps this site isn't best suited for the character you wish to play. I'm sorry if this seems harsh; but, I do honestly want you to take the criticisms and apply it to future applications so you won't run into problems like this in the future.

For now, I'm going to have to reject your application. I'm sorry.
