• EVAN ALWAID ROSIER •
"You know who I am," he said
The speaker was an angel
He coughed and shook his crumpled wings
Closed his eyes and moved his lips
"It's time we should be going".

general appearance Evan is a fairly slight, pale looking young man, who has the ability to appear inoffensive or even harmless when needs be. He has a tendency to look blank or emotionless, sometimes making it difficult to tell exactly what he’s thinking. However, he can, when he chooses to, express himself non-verbally very well with a facial expression, such as a wry sarcastic smile, a supercilious sneer or a single arched eyebrow. He is always neat and fairly well groomed, with expensive, well-fitting robes and expensive taste, and he is quite good looking, with noble, aristocratic features. He doesn’t look like he’d be much good in a fist fight, but he has a certain wiry strength and is quick and agile. Although he has a perfectly charming smile, he sometimes has the quite disconcerting habit of staring somebody straight in the eye, often making people feel quite uncomfortable, which is usually his intention.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

overall personality, Evan could be considered the perfect model of a slytherin. He considers pure blood to be one of the most important marks of nobility; he is cunning, selfish, cares little for others, and is often vicious and sadistic. However, he could be set apart somewhat in that he is not a coward, and his desire for glory and a certain longing to prove himself in battle could even be considered akin to Gryffindor sensibilities. However, this does to an extent stem from a fear; he has a young man's fear of growing old and dying, a fear of becoming weak and a fear of being a prisoner that precipitates a preference for fighting to the end. He dislikes the thought of running away and longs for power and glory. He agrees with Voldemort’s views, and aligns with them, aspiring to join the ranks of the death eaters, and sees it as the best way to gain glory. He honestly believes that, being prepared to use ‘stronger’ forms of magic, dark wizards will triumph.
Evan has strong bonds with his mother and was deeply affected by the death of his father, but finds it difficult to make emotional connections. He forms friendships with those who have a similar philosophy (or those who just want a piece of the action or to torture some muggles) but doubts he’d seriously mourn any of them. He doesn’t have a ‘pack mentality’ and would far rather save himself than help anybody else. However, he can take pleasure from the company of others and enjoys conversation and speculation about magic, and issues he’s interested in, which can range from the superiority of pure bloods to the latest Quidditch results. He plans to marry a well-connected, well-bred witch with genes worthy of his own bloodline, with the intention of producing an heir, and doesn’t consider falling in love or romance to be in any way important at all. For all he cares, he could pick a girl from a catalogue based on her looks and blood. However, he does enjoy the element of chase and intrigue, and likes the feeling of power he can gain from matters of the heart. Although he doesn’t believe in love or anything of the sort (or doesn’t believe it applies to him, anyway) he would get quite possessive and competitive if there was a rival for the affections of a prize he had set his sights on. Of course, if he hasn’t made an appropriate match by the time he’s twenty, he’ll just draw up a contract with some like-minded girl who’s looking for a marriage of money, wealth and blood, but he does find the whole art of manipulating people into forming an emotional attachment to him very appealing. Perhaps it’s that idea of power again; there’s a certain attraction to the idea of becoming everything, almost godlike, even just to an individual.
He has a love of dark magic, both in theory and in practice, and is particularly skilled at performing it. He also has quite a keen interest in developing his own spells and curses. The spells and charms he has the widest interest in are ones that can be used to incapacitate an opponent while duelling, which he considers one of his greatest strengths, even at a fairly young age. he certainly has no qualms about hurting an opponent, but is acutely aware of the dangers of such things at, say, Hogwarts, especially after what happened to his father, so would restrict himself to magic that wouldn’t get him arrested or expelled if he ever got into a scrap at Hogwarts. Evan is used to the finer things in life, and always has money, but he isn’t scared of getting his hands dirty, as it were.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
WHEN YOU BLESS THE DAY
the history
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
mother & family, His mother, Aeliana, is a proud pure blood with fine connections and a respectable amount of her own money but the last of her family name, and was to an extent social climbing when she married into the Rosier bloodline.
father &family, His father, Leopold, comes from a long line of pure blooded, Slytherin witches and wizards, and was one of the original Death Eaters. The Rosier family is related (through Druella Rosier, Evan’s aunt) to the Blacks (Druella married Cygnus black and had three daughters; Bellatrix, Narcissa and Andromeda), the Lestranges (through marriage) and the Malfoys (Druella is the grandmother of Draco Malfoy). This links them to pretty much all of the pureblooded families, somewhere along the line.
siblings, None (or none mentioned in canon)
overall history, Leopold Rosier was a valued member of Slytherin house, and part of Tom Riddle’s inner circle. So close, in fact, that he travelled with the Dark Lord to wish him good luck when he attempted to gain a teaching post at Hogwarts. He was known by wizards such as Dumbledore to be closely aligned with the Dark Lord, but there wasn’t much that could be done about it, and Leopold was a well-respected member of wizarding society, and a rich one, even if there was some mutterings behind closed doors about an affiliation to the Dark Arts. Aeliana and Leopold married due to a compatibility in families and values, but that isn’t to say that they weren’t fond of each other, and were protective of their family unit. From a young age, Evan was taught the important of family loyalty. His father, like Evan himself, was a skilled dueller. Unlike Evan, however, Leopold was fairly poor at controlling his emotions, and was impatient that the Death Eaters were not gaining enough power. He got into a duel with a muggle born, in public, in which he was unmasked and recognised. He fled from the scene, but not before his name had been reported to the ministry.
He had performed several dark spells in the duel, including the Cruciatus curse, and knew full well that he would end up with life imprisonment. Therefore, he hurried home and urged his family to pack their things, and quickly. His intention was to move them abroad, and start a new life; Evan was ten at the time and Leopold quashed his unhappiness that he wouldn’t be going to Hogwarts with a promise that he would enrol him in Durmstrang, which would be ‘even better’. However, before they had time to leave the house, an Auror flanked by two Dementors appeared to take Leopold in. Determined that he could win this fight, Leopold duelled with the Auror and killed him, but was however quite badly wounded in the process. Sensing his weakness, the Dementors attacked, and, without the Auror to call them off, performed a Dementor’s Kiss on Evan’s father, leaving him alive but lifeless. Horrified, Aeliana shielded her son, hiding out of harm’s way in a secret compartment of their home until reinforcements from the Ministry arrived. To this day, Evan has vivid nightmares about being trapped in that small compartment, seeing his father’s soulless body staring at him through a small peephole, and the Dementors circling outside, waiting.
Eventually, they were rescued by further members of the ministry. As Evan and his mother had technically done nothing wrong, they weren’t charged, and Leopold Rosier’s crimes as well as his nasty fate were hushed up because despite the fact that he had performed dark magic and was proved as a Death Eater, the Ministry didn’t want anybody to find out that the Dementors had removed somebody’s soul, and of their own volition. His father was not dead, but Evan considers him as such. The Ministry quietly removed Rosier to St Mungo’s, where he is fed and cared for, but has no life to speak of. Evan refuses to visit him, preferring to imagine that he died a glorious death in a battle to protect his family. Seeing the attack, however, meant that even before going to Hogwarts, Evan had made the decision that despite his chosen path to follow his father into becoming a Death Eater, he was never going to get caught and never going to go to Azkaban. He’d rather die.
A year later, aged 11, Evan boarded the train to Hogwarts. There was a small pause when the Sorting Hat settled on his hair, before it proclaimed him a Slytherin, to his delight and his mother’s pride. He quickly met other Slytherins with similar ambitions, and has a sort of kinship with other wizards with an interest in dark magic. Through Hogwarts, he’s dedicated his studies to perfecting spells and skills in duelling. He also enjoys teaching some such spells to younger wizards (though obviously not giving up his own secrets) but is careful not to make himself appear suspicious to the teachers. His life, as he sees it, is all going exactly according to plan.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Evan straightened his robes, sitting with an odd sort of calm as the list of names was read out. Some names he recognised, the purebloods, some of these people he already knew, from dinner parties and social affairs. Black, Lestrange… he searched the Slytherin table for other familiar faces. He amused himself by guessing the outcome. Perhaps it was too easy to guess who would end up in Slytherin. After all, he knew his own family tree, which was often tangled up with all of the other old wizarding families. But there were the dirty traitors to the pure blood, of course, there were some pure bloods that ended up Gryffindor, or Ravenclaw, or Salazar forbid, even in Hufflepuff with the Mudbloods and half-Squibs. He remembered his mother and her friends whispering with barely contained delight at the news that a Black, a Black had been put in Gryffindor, a disgrace to his family name!
There were names he didn’t recognise, faces he didn’t recognise, and those were more fun to guess. He liked picking out the Muggle borns, the ones with common sounding names, the ones with stunned, stupid expressions as though they still weren’t quite sure how they had got here and were almost expecting to be taken away at any moment and told that they actually couldn’t do magic after all. Those ones he usually dismissed to Hufflepuff. Ravenclaws tended to be more earnest, looking around with more interest, as though reminding themselves to look up the history of the ghosts wafting around the Great Hall. He was so busy with his game that he almost forgot to listen out for his own name, and by the time he remembered, they were up to ‘P’. He wasn’t afraid, not at all. His father had been in Slytherin, his mother had been in Slytherin, and he didn’t see any reason why he wouldn’t be. It wasn’t as though he was a Muggle-lover like Sirius Black. He belonged in the house; those values, the values embodied by Slytherin, he shared.
But as he crossed to the three legged stool, and felt the eyes of the other students gravely surveying him, as he sat down and waited for the Sorting Hat to be placed on his head, as the Hat was dropped down and slid right down to nearly cover up his whole face, and he was left in darkness for a long, long moment, he felt his heart beat just a little faster. If it said something else, anything else… he’d contest it, he decided fiercely, he wouldn’t let that happen. He’d insist there was a mistake. But it couldn’t have been more than a second before the Hat proclaimed him a Slytherin, and he felt himself smile with triumph and what could only be described as relief. This was the moment he’d yearned for, for as long as he could remember. His new wand in his new robes was itching to be put to use. His new school books were itching to be devoured. Evan Rosier was itching to become a great, powerful wizard.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
