Bellatrix had been furious all night. It wasn’t often that she couldn’t sleep steadily through the night, but everything that had happened in the last few of days had her fuming at the ears. It was ridiculous how the rest of the students and even a few of the professors behaved. They acted like bleeding muggles half the time, fighting over men and women alike, when all they should be worrying about is not being killed or become entangled in impurity. There was this ever present urge within her to curse every single one of the people in that school because they were idiots. Except for Narcissa. Her baby sister was having enough of a hard time without being cursed by her own sister.
It all seemed to start with these transfers. The fighting and complaining increase tenfold and naturally Bellatrix thrived in this sort of environment. She enjoyed picking on the new students and soon it became a game. Somehow it brought her closer to Rodolphus Lestrange, one of her brother-in-arms, but it hadn’t really phased her until he started showing interesting in her for some ungodly reason. She had told him outright that affection was a weakness, but he persisted and they engaged in what Bellatrix had understood as a completely open “relationship” if she’d even call it that.
She agreed to go to that damned masquerade with him too. Her gut told her to avoid it, but it just seemed like the best place to create some havoc, let alone the fact it gave her a reason to get completely sloshed, not that she ever really waited for an excuse to do so. Needless to say, this mindset ended her on top of some Gryffindor that was supposedly a Potter. At least that’s what Rodolphus said afterwards, but she did have a vague recollection of Rodolphus losing it at her cousin Sirius. It was piling up, something that her dwindling sanity couldn’t really handle.
It was evening and she had been doing her best to avoid Rod after what had gone on the previous night. All she really wanted was clarification on what the fuck that they boy wanted from her. He seemed to say one thing and mean something completely different to her. She never really wanted to take the time to decipher what he meant, so she just asked him outright. Of course he fucked that up as well, skipping around a real answer until she had finally just had it and left the common room all together. She didn’t need this right now. She needed to work on what the Dark Lord had assigned her and protect her baby sister from the likes of Lucius Malfoy, and apparently now, this “Professor Cadmus”. Professor Cad was more like it.
She had bundled up, ready to go outside to meet up with Rodolphus. Slipping a note under his door, hexed to turn anyone who was not Rodolphus a sickening shade of green for a week, telling him:
If you really want to sort any of this mess out, I’ll be down by the Forbidden Forest at six. This whole situation is idiotic and we should be recruiting instead of arguing amongst ourselves. If you don’t come, I’ll take that as an admission that you don’t want this… tryst to continue or develop at all (though I will tell you now that I do not think the chances of that are very high). I will wait for fifteen minutes.
~Bellatrix Cancri Black
The cold air hit like a wall when she stepped outside. It was certainly November at Hogwarts. She took her time getting down to the edge of the forest, kicking stones angrily as she walked. Her frustration was running high, and she had things to do. She supposed her parents would be thrilled at the idea of her possibly peaking the interest of such a well bred, pureblooded boy such as Rodolphus, but the idea of pleasing her parents sickened her. For once in her life, she felt confused and panicked, wanting to just hit something as usual and walk away happy.

Rodolphus was getting restless; the Dark Lord would return his message anytime now. He couldn’t help but begin to think about how he and Bella were constantly at each other’s throats in constant debate about his recruitment methods. Rodolphus had always been thought of very well by the other Death Eaters in his decision making throughout his time with the Dark Lord. Never had he been so insulted of his reasoning before. The emerald eyes were beginning to turn gray, just like his damned father. It was the one thing Rodolphus never wanted to become, his filthy father and all he had done against his family. Whenever he would remotely think about his father, his temper would flare up and make others fear to be around him.
The moment he had walked from the fourth floor common room, the anger inside him was growing every second. His footsteps carried him away from the fourth floor and down to the dungeons. Rodolphus approached the Slytherin Common room, spoke the password and casually entered the nearly vacant room. The emerald orbs scanned the room for any sort of life, none pleased him and he stalked towards his dormitory, his eyes burning with anger and frustration. As he approached the door leading into his dormitory, he noticed s glimpse of paper that was hidden beneath his large wooden door. He slowly turned the handle, revealing a small hand-written note on the floor. He had bent over to pick it up and began reading.
Bellatrix Black and he had been feuding for the past few days, and he thought the storm would never calm, until he had read this note. The watch upon his wrist read ten till six.
Rodolphus began to think about what the note actually meant. He had fallen for her a while ago, but had never mentioned anything about affection; for affection was weak. Never had he actually cared about anyone before, but he was not going to ruin his friendship which he held with Bellatrix. The two Death Eaters had been on recruitment missions since they had been marked together. It was interesting to mention that they were both very loyal members and would not jeopardize their ranks for anything. The time had come for Rodolphus to leave and meet up with Bellatrix, or she would come find him and torture him. Either way, he would meet up with her.
He quickly left the common room, hearing various scoffs and laughter from the students seated in the corner, but these did not faze him at all. The cool air felt good against his burning skin, the moon was nearly full and the darkness was nearly to cover the grounds. This meeting would surely have to be quick, Lestrange did not need any more probation added onto his name; especially given by Professor Cadmus. His eyes found a figure, hidden in the shadows near the trees of the forest. Moment past and he was standing next to his fellow Death Eater, Bellatrix Black. Evening, Miss Black

She was considering leaving her spot before he even got there. It would have served him right for doing this to her; putting all these weird ideas about affection and joining together into her head. She blamed him, certainly and she could. It was cold and she’d rather be inside, torturing some child or working on recruiting another. This is what they really were there for, the recruitment. Screw the whole “formal” education bit. They were the Dark Lord’s ticket into the student body for recruiting, and if they fucked that up by engaging in some sort of a frivolous attachment of some sort, then it would all be for naught. Bella was never going to let that happen anyways. She was going to remain professional no matter what happened. It would all be for the Lord.
Even though she had thought about leaving, she leaned against a tree in the shadows. It was growing darker, but she really didn’t mind. She feared very little in the world and thrived in the dark, unseen and dangerous. Bellatrix tried to figure out what she even wished to speak about with Rodolphus. The lines certainly had to be drawn. It was ridiculous for him to think he had some sort of claim over her, enough to incite the level of jealousy that he showed at the masquerade. It was idiotic really, no one but the Dark Lord would ever own her true devotion.
A flash emitted from the end of her wand, resulting in a bat falling from the sky in front of her while she waited. The shock may not have killed the creature, but it made her feel a little better. She often took her rage out on others, normally ending in detentions for herself. She could hear Rodolphus’s footsteps long before she could see him. It was quiet and undisturbed this far away from school, and she knew the location put him in danger because he was still on probation, but she saw it as a test. Did he really care enough to risk his status to sort this whole mess out?
He had, quite clearly as he came into view. Bellatrix gave him the once over and could tell the boy was pissed, not happy to be in the situation at all. This made Bellatrix a little gleeful and drunk with her own power, but she muffled it. If Rodolphus caught wind of that, he surely would react poorly and that could undermine their current working relationship. “Rodolphus.” She met his eyes with an arched eyebrow, clearly skeptical about his intentions and wishes. Her arms crossed before her, the wand still held in one of her arms as she kicked the now dead bat aside.
A few moments past of Bellatrix just staring at the boy, evaluating him. “What were you talking about last night in the common room.” She finally spoke, her eyes turning a little colder. “You seem to have deluded yourself into thinking that we had some sort of a relationship. I’d like to know if that is what you truly think.” Her voice was as cool as the fall air around them, daring him to answer truthfully.

You’re now a slave until the end of time here - - - - - - - - - ► Nothing stops the madness
Rodolphus was trying to sort out in his scrambled mess of a brain, and figure out exactly Bellatrix called him down here for. He knew they had to sort things out between the two of them or all hell would eventually break loose. This was not the time or place for a fight between two of the leading recruiters, especially since a new rise in power was beginning to become evident. The Dark Lord would be indifferent with this so called situation between Bella and Rodolphus, things would only get out of hand if they were to not perform their tasks in a timely manner. That was never a problem for the eldest Lestrange; he was a stickler for the rules and will always be one.
The only reason Rodolphus could think of for this meeting to be taking place, was the fact that Rodolphus made a scene in the mutual common room the other day. What else was he supposed to do? Just allow the half-blooded scum of a Gryffindor to have his way with her? There was no question for the actions he had made against the boy and Sirius Black, who had later, came to his rescue. Bellatrix was not looking for a relationship, he was well aware of the whole ordeal of having affection being a weakness; no matter whom it was directed at. It was made very clear that he did not want a relationship nor did he?
His brain was wrapped around this idea, but knew nothing like this would ever happen. All he wanted right now was to sort this whole thing out and make everything better. It was time he explained what happened and why he acted the way he did. What were you talking about last night in the common room her words cut like a knife once she had spoken. His emerald eyes gazed from the trees down to where Bellatrix was standing, not three yards away from him.
I was referring to what happened at the Mask. I know my behavior might have been out of line, but would you just want me to stand there and watch you degrade yourself with a Gryffindor scum? he asked her, looking expressionless, trying to hide what he was actually feeling which was despair. He had to come to his senses that falling for Bellatrix Black was going nowhere and would definitely ruin their working relationship for the Death Eaters.
You seem to have deluded yourself into thinking that we had some sort of a relationship. I’d like to know if that is what you truly think her words were cold and he was beginning to worry a little about the seriousness of the entire situation. He was growing restless and this needed to fixed; now. It may have crossed my mind, but I know nothing would become from a relationship. Besides, it would wreck our working relationship with the Dark Lord, which is our main concern. Not something as trivial as a dating relationship the words fells from his lips as he watched Bella for a reaction. Rodolphus wanted to protect her, more than anything.

Bellatrix scoffed at the reasoning behind him only half-heartedly pursuing her affections. It really was idiotic. From the Dark Lord’s standpoint, she knew the trivialities and emotions that usually went along with teenage dating would be an utter waste of time. It could only hamper the tasks that they were assigned. It wasn’t like Bellatrix was looking for something like that. A relationship anyways. She never thought she would be looking for one. She’s always assumed they were trivial and unimportant. Cissa was more suited to become a baby factory than she was, and a better suit for a mother. She couldn’t ever imagine having children. It had always been pressed into them as kids themselves that they were to grow up to be good wives and mothers, but Bellatrix knew she didn’t fit that bill. Trouble was, her parents didn’t like that.
On second thought, the Dark Lord himself might not have objected to the “relationship” itself. It gave them a proper cover as teenagers who are just lost in lust. In addition to that, there is a chance that their companionship as youngsters could lead to properly bred, pureblooded children that the Dark Lord may need some day for his own doings. Bellatrix groaned internally at the thought. It seemed everywhere she looked, or even though, the ideas of being the perfect wife and mother seemed to reside. Still, she didn’t out rightly object to a sexual relationship with Lestrange. He was a decent looking boy and she had needs of her own.
It still stunned her that he was showing this level of interest in pursuing her at all. She never thought she had shown even the vaguest of interests past the physical. Usually, she was so cold and distant that men didn’t really want to deal with her. Her raw sexuality was all they really looked for. She didn’t mind this at all, of course. It was actually how she preferred it, with no strings attached (not that there would ever REALLY be strings attached for her; she wouldn’t allow it to happen). Normally she noticed if she was leading men on for pleasure or business, but this had blindsided her a bit.
He started talking about how he had to stick up for her, and defend her against the “Gryffindor Scum”. It insulted her a bit to think that he thought she could not defend herself, even though she rightly knew that during the masquerade, she wouldn’t have been able too. “Aren’t you just my night in bloody shiny armour.” A snort escaped as she rolled her eyes, “Save the heroics speech. I know if it had been someone like that Richter girl or Hunter girl you wouldn’t have been so bloody pissed off.” Her arms were crossed in front of her chest.
This was just getting ridiculous to Bellatrix. She tried to stifle a laugh, but failed. “Do you honestly think that I believe that crock of hippogriff shit you are trying to feed me? You aren’t that hard so see through Rodolphus, that’s evidently clear.” Her finger pointed at his chest. “You know it would be a good cover for us. We could be seen together a lot more and no one would bat an eye. Let alone the fact that our parents would no doubt be thrilled.” She made a bit of a face and put her hand back on her hip. “But I’m not so sure about you.” Her face turned into a smirk, “I don’t know if you are good enough. Or if you care.” She cackled a bit, not caring if she was screwing with his head or emotions at all.

You’re now a slave until the end of time here - - - - - - - - - ► Nothing stops the madness
It was becoming even more of a strenuous effort for Rodolphus to keep a straight face and hide his true emotions. Never in his life had he ever even remotely cared about anyone other than his brother Rabastan. Although lately, his brother had been getting on his very last nerve, by thinking he had a shot with Narcissa Black. It was becoming rather tiresome for Rodolphus to keep his dear little brother out of trouble, but Rabastan would always find another way to get on Lestrange’s nerves. His eyes gazed away from Bellatrix for the time being, he watched the moon creep over the tree lines; it was getting darker by the moment. Of course Bellatrix was not going to fall for what he was trying to pass off as a decent story; he had to develop something better. Why was it so hard for him to tell her his true thoughts? It would not matter to her, even in the slightest. It had to be done, but nothing was going to ruin their current working relationship with The Dark Lord.
He could merely scoff at Bella’s words to him Well, aren’t you just my night in bloody shiny armour he rolled his eyes, still not looking at her. She would never understand what he was trying to tell her. It was an act of jealously, seeing that scum having his way with Bellatrix Black was nauseating, he was not just going to let it continue. I’ll save the heroics for another time then. I am very aware that you can take care of yourself, but seeing as though you were drunk I felt I had to step in he spoke calmly as his eyes moved from the moon towards her. He crossed his path over towards her, standing directly in front of her. You’re absolutely right. If it happened to Alex or Hunter I wouldn’t have given a damn he watched her reaction after he had spoken, then he placed a hand on her shoulder, his eyes now looking into hers. After she had mentioned being a cover boy for her, he could only offer up a smirk. It was a good idea, possibly even too good of an idea.
Then she went on to speak about meeting even more in secret about their recruitment plans and ideas. It was perfect. Miss Black, your idea is brilliant. I believe the question remains, are you willing to put up with me? he grinned after he had spoken, he knew his parents would love the idea of having a member of the Black family in their home, it would give even more pride to the Lestrange empire. Rodolphus was very aware of the current tension between the two students, but he just didn’t care any more about his emotions, he would rather die than see his family and Death Eaters fall, it was the beginning of something interesting; not even Rodolphus would begin to comprehend.

Bellatrix was starting to get a little nervous about some of her previous comments. She wasn’t thinking about the marriage that no doubt her parents would think of immediately, nor did she want Rodolphus thinking in that manner. She wasn’t planning on getting married anytime soon or really as long as she could fight against it. Usually the pureblooded women that got married instantly turned to making a nice household and many copious heirs for their overbearing husbands. Bella wasn’t going to let that happen to her. It was a nice life for someone like Narcissa or her mother, but the idea had never appealed to her and she doubted that it ever really would. Come hell or high water, she was going to make sure she was entirely devoted to the Dark Lord, no matter what her potential future husband would demand of her. She’d just kill him if he got in her way.
She knew that she should be more grateful for his intervention, but if she thanked him, it would show that she had actually needed help. The damsel in distress was something that Bellatrix had never been, nor would ever become. It had been a horrific idea, drinking to that extend at the Masquerade. Normally, she held to a “live with no regrets” mentality, but touching that… mongrel was something that would be a nightmare for her for the rest of her life. What she had almost DONE was possibly the most revolting thing that could have possibly happened to her, and somewhere deep inside of her (although she could never really notice it) she was grateful for what Rodolphus did for her that night. He had risked his standing in the eyes of the school to make sure she didn’t fuck all of her sanity right out of her head. No pun intended.
Smirking slightly, she retorted against what he had said, although it had been the right answer, “I hope by conceding that you wouldn’t defend the other two girls, you don’t mean that you don’t care about the purity of their bloodlines and the continuation of the pureblood race…?” Her shoulder stiffened a bit at his touch, an unconscious reaction that was usually elicited from her. It took a conscious effort on her to relax so she didn’t just make the situation a hell of a lot more awkward. It wasn’t as if she didn’t enjoy toying with the boy, but this seemed to be going a lot more smoothly than she had thought it would. She wasn’t one for making something more difficult than need be. Well… usually.
Her eyes darkened slightly at his asking if she could put up with him. “I’m no child. I can deal with you of all people.” She scoffed at his question, as if having to answer made him look like an idiot. “I first have to determine, as previously stated, you are good enough to be considered for the role of my… companion.”
Bella hated the usual terminology and refused to say anything remotely close to “boyfriend”. She wasn’t some whiny, helpless teenage girl who would get excited to be in a relationship. Her face returned to its usual conceited smirk, “Do you think you are up for the evaluation Rodolphus Lestrange?” Her hands slid over his shoulders and locked behind his neck. “You can still back out if you think it would be too hard.” [/blockquote][/blockquote] Word Count: 576 Wearing: This.Notes: Oye.

You’re now a slave until the end of time here - - - - - - - - - ► Nothing stops the madness Rodolphus would only continue to answer the questions based on how he felt, not giving a care to what Bellatrix had to say; even though her opinion mattered to him. As he continued to watch and wait for her reaction to his answer, he couldn’t help but remember every time he had saved Rabastan’s ass. Constantly was Rodolphus bailing out his brother, for he had never understood living without dear old Lestrange’s money and shelter. He merely shook his head at the idea of watching Rabastan fall behind and feeling Renault’s wrath. The idea made him sick, for his parents would blame him for not being the better sibling and watching out for the youngest Lestrange son. He shook his head and looked back at Bellatrix, who seemed to be in thought as well. What is she thinking about? he thought, looking around the now dark forest. His eyes looked away from the darkened forest back at Bellatrix.
What was the sole purpose for this meeting? Was Bellatrix just going to kill him here and now? The idea of her bringing him down there for that purpose would make him sick, there was no doubt about it. It was impossible for Rodolphus to get his ideas out in the open, especially with Bellatrix breathing down his beck all the time. He sighed and crossed his arms across his chest once again, his eyes looking at her blankly. Rodolphus tried to ease the pain of her blunt statements by reliving what happened that night in the tent. One moment he was having a great time with her, the next moment she was sitting on the lap of the Gryffindor scum, his hands all over her. Never would he allow that to happen, he was enraged thus leading him to act as he did. I hope by conceding that you wouldn’t defend the other two girls, you don’t mean that you don’t care about the purity of their bloodlines and the continuation of the pureblood race…?” her words were sharp, but he seemed to look right past them.
Of course I would care about them tainting their bloodlines, but I would not have acted out like I did when the Potter boy was all over you. The house of Black is the purest bloodline there is, you know that. We can’t have that tainted, how can we? he said with a small smile. Her reaction to him asking if she was able to handle it made him smirk. I am aware you can handle it, you are not a child he spoke calmly and placed his hands on her waist, looking into her eyes. He was up for whatever she was going to ask of him. His eyebrow raised a little once she had mentioned an evaluation of some sort. What the hell sort of a trick was she planning? Rodolphus never backed down from anything, no matter how trivial it might have seemed. What sort of evaluation did you have in mind, Miss Black?
